Roe's Dairy Farm Milk & Icecream

Roes Farm Dairy

Roe's Farm Dairy supply our fresh pasteurised milk, cream, and we also stock their wonderful home-made icecream too.

The farm is at Barrow Haven, on the south bank of the Humber Estuary, about 12 miles north of Great Limber.

They have a herd of about 85 cows, made up of Friesians, Guernseys and Jerseys. They are kept indoors during the Winter, but are turned out to enjoy the wonderful green pastures near the Humber from Spring to Autumn.

The Roe's take great care of their cows, and play classical music to them in the milking parlour, to help make their milk rich and creamy. The cows are milked twice a day. Roe's milk is very local, and has very few "food miles".

So often nowadays, the "fresh pasteurised milk" sold in supermarkets has been homogenised to extend its shelf-life - do check out the small print on the label next time you buy milk at one of these outlets! Because homogenisation extends the shelf-life, the milk sold at supermarkets can be up to 9 days old before it even reaches their shelves. Some big chains sell fresh milk from Bulgaria.

Roe's Farm Dairy milk is pasteurised, cooled and bottled, and is delivered within hours of being produced! It is never homogenised. The cream on the whole milk rises to the top of the bottle, just like it used to do in the old days - something you never get with homogenised milk. It tastes better, too.

Roes Farm Dairy Milk & Cream
Roes Home Made Icecream

New in 2010 Roe's Farm has been using its milk and cream for wonderful home-made icecream. They have perfected the recipe for several flavours: vanilla, rum-and-raisin, toffee fudge, strawberry, mint and chocolate. Follow this link to read about Roes Icecream in the Grimsby Telegraph

Roe's double cream is really rich and creamy, and their single cream is very good, too. It normally comes in 284ml (10 fluid ounce) pots, but it can come in other sizes too - up to 2 litres if you need it. Please do enquire.
