Pattesons Traditional Chutney

Village Stores at Limber

Pattesons Traditional Chutney has been increasing hard to find recently, but it is still available at our shop. The rich, traditional chutney was first made by Joseph Patteson in Grimsby in 1910, and is still popular with our customers.

Its recipe is a secret, but we understand it's made from onions, carrots, bramley apples and swede, together with malt vinegar, mustard and lots of spices.

Around Christmas it's hard to keep our Pattesons shelf from selling out - but rest assured we will continue to promote this local delicacy, and we have a secure supply all year round. Click here to visit their website.

Fisherman's Cough Linctus

Fisherman's Cough Linctus

Does our favourite cough remedy count as a regional speciality? We don't know about that, but we do know that many locals swear by this to cure their coughs. It's made for Malcolm Ellis & Son, Grimsby, and is strongly flavoured and treacly - definitely an old-fashioned remedy. Just what you need to keep colds away while working on the trawlers in the North Sea. Click here to visit their website.
